Phil Andrews joins Black Star News as Business Columnist

New York, New York - Phil Andrews joins Black Star News as Business Columnist. Mr. Andrews is the CEO of Phil Andrews Public Relations Co. Phil Andrews was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Marcy Housing Projects. He attended Brooklyn Technical High school which is a specialized school in New York City. He has lectured throughout New York State at various colleges and universities. He was the Vice President/Marketing Director of the Haircut Hut Franchise for over a decade. Mr. Andrews is listed in Who’s Who in Black America and International Who’s Who. He is also featured in a book published by Mr. Robert H. Adams entitled 15 years of Minority Business Development. He is the current Public Relations Public Relations Director for Cbbooksdistribution.com, Awarenessmagazine.net, SGIBMagazine.com, Hempstead Horn Newspaper, African Atlantic Genealogical Association, and 100 Black Men of Long Island.

In October of 1995 Mr. Andrews was presented the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce/Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award. In 1998 he was presented with the Nassau Council of Chambers/West Indian Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award. He has also received a citation from the 18th Assembly District Long Island New York, Assemblywomen Earlene Hooper Hill. Mr. Andrews has received Proclamations from former Nassau County Executive Thomas S. Gullotta, and former Town of Hempstead Supervisor Mr. Richard Guardino.

Mr. Andrews has been featured in many publications such as Point of View Newspaper, Black Star News, The New York Beacon, The Gleaner Extra, Caribbean Life Newspaper, Afro-American Times, Community Journal Newspaper, New York Trend Newspaper, Economic Forum Newspaper Minority Business Review, Amsterdam News, and Shop Talk Magazine.

He is currently the Public Relations Director for Blackbusinesscircle.com, Queens Book Fair, Public Relations committee for the Harlem Book Fair on Long Island which attracted over 2000 participants for the 2003 Harlem Book Fair on Long Island. He is also currently serving as the Public Relations Committee for the New York Metro MBA Association and the 100 Black Men of Long Island.

Phil Andrews has served the community in various ways during the past decade. He has served on the Board of directors of the Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce, Roosevelt Kiwanis, 100 Black Men of Long Island, and the West Indian Chamber of Commerce as the Public Relation Director and currently runs a business network named the “Power Networking Business Seminar Series”. He is also a member of the 100 Black Men of America and is certified as a Mentor through the 100 Black Men of America.

1) Men’s Empowerment Day "Man 2 Man" segment will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Greater Bright Light Baptist Church 1320 Sutter Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.
